Kia recalls thousands of Sorento units over gas pedal assembly flaw

12,361 Sorento crossover units are being recalled by automaker giant Kia Motors America over a faulty capacitor in the accelerator assembly that might cause the car to decelerate, The Washington Post revealed on Wednesday, March 25.

According to the company, a capacitor on the accelerator pedal circuit was been soldered improperly, resulting in faulty codes that cause the car to drive in either Limp Home Mode or Forced Idle Mode. This might then put the vehicle at risk of rear-end collision. Affected models were manufactured between October 27, 2014 and January 29, 2015.

The company already contacted the affected customers for an acceleration pedal assembly replacement at no cost.
