Nissan recalls more than 700k vehicles for two separate problems

A defectively installed hood release mechanism and the possibility of a fire-causing short circuit prompted Nissan to recall around 768,000 vehicles worldwide, TechTimes reported on Thursday, January 29.

Nissan is recalling 215,789 of its 2013 to 2014 Pathfinder, 2013 Infiniti JX35, 2014 Pathfinder Hybrid, and 2014 Infiniti QX60 and QX60 Hybrid after learning about a defective hood release cable assembly that prevents the hood latch from engaging fully. This could cause the hood to open accidentally when the vehicle is in motion. Of the affected vehicles, 170,655 are in the U.S.

Meanwhile, a mixture of saltwater and snow on a driver’s shoes seep into the carpet, possibly causing a short circuit and eventually a fire. 552,135 Rogue SUVs are affected by the recall, 468,815 of which are in the country.

Cars manufactured below safety standards definitely pose great safety risk among occupants and the general public.
