What are the different types of product liability?

Product liability comes in a wide variety of different forms, but generally speaking, it can be grouped into three distinct categories. The first, design defects, involves defects which are part of the underlying design of the product, and therefore affect each instantiation. Manufacturing defects occur during the production process, and may therefore only affect one or a small number of the products in question. Marketing defects occur when the product is marketed or labeled in a way that fails to warn consumers about potential dangers.
